I'm doing my best to try new things while I'm here as well, because really, what's the point of being somewhere new if you don't try new things right? Well, I think ice skating is pretty much as new as it gets, especially for someone from the Bahamas who had never even seen snow until a month ago. The other night, my room mates decided to give me a crash course in ice skating, which I really must say is ALOT harder than it looks! Even though I nearly broke both of my wrists, I still had a whole lot of fun, but I don't think ice skating is quite my sport....maybe I'll try skiing or snowboarding instead. Hopefully I won't head back home to Nassau with any broken bones lol. Other than getting a few bumps and scrapes from ice skating, Canada's outdoors in the winter is a definitely an experience. Though I'm obviously not much of an ice skater, my room mates and I still had a great time making snow angels and having a snow ball free for all. Though I do miss home, I must say life in North Bay is pretty good.

Ice Skating Anyone?
It's been about six weeks since I've been here at Nipissing, and I'm finally beginning to feel totally settled in....in fact some of my classes here remind me alot of classes back at home at COB, so you can pretty much say I'm feeling at home here at NU. My classes are pretty interesting as well, two of my favorites are my Gender Studies class which discusses human rights and animal rights, and I must say it has totally opened my eyes to a few things I've never thought about before, and my class entitled "The Scandalous Life". Like the name suggests, the class looks at what was thought to be scandalous literature back in 18th century Britain, and though the books can somewhat be a little challenging to get through, the class discussions are really interesting and engaging.

Back Online...For Now At Least!
So, so far everything's been going pretty great here in North Bay. The only major thing to report is that I've been having computer problems, my laptop has seemed to given up on me in the cold weather, but otherwise everything's pretty good. Everyone here in North Bay seems really nice, the people here go out of their way to help you, which I think is totally great. I have 3 other Canadian suitemates, Lindsay, Olivia and Alyssa, and they're all really cool, in fact we've been having a great time cracking jokes with each other, especially making fun of Alyssa, but she knows we're just joking!
The weather here is really not as bad as I thought it was going to be, once I'm bundled up its not THAT cold, but I definitely would never go outside in shorts or flip flops. Classes began on Monday, and its only a short bus ride from my dorm to the main campus where the classes are, and so far the classes are pretty interesting, my favorite one is my Studies in Media class; we get to watch movies in class and then analyze them. That's pretty much everything that's going on for now, but so far everything's good and I like it alot here!

Almost There!
So I finally get a chance to write my first blog!! I've been sooo busy with work lately I've hardly had time to think, but I was determined that I would start today, even though I've been at work all day. I can't believe it's almost time already for me to leave...I always kept thinking of going to Canada as this far away date, and now I can't believe that I'm leaving on Saturday. I'm excited, but I'm really anxious, seeing as how this will be my first time away from home, and in a whole new climate and country. I know I'm going to be fine, but I can't help but have a few butterflies. I'm definitely grateful for the oppurtunity though, this will be the perfect chance for me to experience new people and places aside from Nassau, giving me a chance to expand my horizons for a bit!
